GOG Celebrates Star Wars Day By Adding 5 New Classic Titles To Its Game Preservation Catalog

Classic PC games platform GOG (Good Old Games) prepares to celebrate Star Wars Day with the addition of five old Star Wars titles to its collection. GOG specializes in breathing new life into older titles by updating classic games to play on modern computers. The latest in its line of classics is a collection of Star Wars titles from the 90s and early 2000s, and, better yet, they’re all on sale for a limited time.
May 4th is known worldwide as Star Wars Day thanks to its resemblance to the iconic Sci-Fi film’s phrase, “May the Force be with you.” In preparation for the special day, GOG has put all its Star Wars games on sale, making this the perfect time to grab a copy of some classic titles in the franchise. But according to the GOG website, the real celebration is arriving in the form of five Star Wars games joining the growing list of titles that GOG is saving from being forgotten by time and technological progress.

Each Title Is Available For A Heavily Discounted Price During The Sale
The Star Wars titles added to the list of updated good old games are all classics, with publication years that range from 1993 to 2004. All the games that have just arrived on GOG are listed below:
- Star Wars Dark Forces
- Star Wars: X-Wing Special Edition
- Star Wars: TIE Fighter Special Edition
- Star Wars Battlefront
- Star Wars: Rebel Assault 1 + 2
All five games will normally cost $9.99, but are currently discounted by 75% as part of the sale, making them an incredibly low $2.49 each. The sale will run through May 6 at 7 a.m. CEST, at which point the games will go back to their regular (still quite reasonable) price.
Thanks to GOG’s Game Preservation program, fans don’t have to worry about these old games not being compatible with their modern gaming rigs. The special program is dedicated to updating old games to run smoothly on current computers, as well as any that may come in the future.
